The biggest night in African digital content is returning as the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa prepare to honour the region’s most creative artists and trendsetters. The awards will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 6, 2025.

The event is a platform for TikTok to celebrate creators who have successfully transformed short-form video into global movements and prosperous careers.

TikTok’s leadership has highlighted 2025 as a year where creativity and community truly became currency. It was the year when niche interests broke through into the mainstream and creators solidified their role as cultural tastemakers.

“Our annual awards are a moment for reflection and celebration where we build deeper relationships with the people who power the continent.”

She added that the event celebrates the community that continues to “inspire creativity, build community and spread joy on the platform while turning their passions into prosperous careers.”

Kenyan creators have secured several nominations across a diverse range of categories, showcasing the nation’s creative depth on the global platform.
