Social media personality Raymond Omosa, popularly known as Kenyan Prince, has sparked controversy after openly admitting he drives his luxury cars without number plates because he can afford to pay fines repeatedly, while claiming Kenya’s legal system only works against those who can’t afford penalties.
In an interview on Iko Nini Podcast with Mwafreeka, Kenyan Prince was confronted about breaking traffic laws by removing number plates from his vehicles.
When asked why he violates regulations he’s aware of, his response was blunt: “I know it’s against the law, but I’m not a criminal. Kenyan laws work for the poor, and I’m not poor anymore.”
Kenyan Prince justified his actions by explaining that his cars feature distinctive wraps that serve as identification, eliminating the need for plates.
“My cars are wrapped, they stand out, it’s identity. Instead of number plates, I put outstanding wraps for identity. If my car passes here today, you’ll know it’s Kenyan Prince,” he said, adding that number plates make German cars look ugly.
When reminded of a viral video showing him in a confrontation with traffic officers, Prince questioned what ultimately happened in that scenario.
“In Kenya, it’s only the poor that loses. What’s the worst that can happen when I drive without number plates? Take me to court, I pay Ksh 5,000 fine, then tomorrow I come back without a number plate. I can pay 5,000 every day for the rest of my life and nothing will happen. It’s only the poor who will suffer because they don’t have that 5,000,” he stated.
Asked about potentially stricter enforcement from NTSA, Kenyan Prince remained unfazed.
“I can put plates on if it gets serious, but right now as long as we survive, just live well with people and everything flows,” he said.
