Kenyans urged to register as ‘Run for Seniors’ nears

Nairobi, Kenya, Friday 13th June 2025 – Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) is making a final call on Kenyans from all walks of life to sign up for the ‘Run for Seniors’ with less than a month left for the charity race.

MIC said the reception for the event has been overwhelmingly positive, with many well-wishers and donors stepping forward to support the cause.

Corporate sponsors have also rallied behind the initiative, contributing resources and funding to ensure the event’s success.

“This collaborative effort demonstrates the commitment of the Kenyan community to uplift the elderly and emphasize the importance of social responsibility. We are now calling on Kenyans wishing to participate and have not yet registered for the physical run to ensure they are not locked out of this historic race,” said 748 Air Services Managing Director, Mr. Moses Mwangi.

He added, “Due to the high numbers of those expressing interest in the race, we would like to close registration early to give us enough time to effectively plan for the best logistics and management of the event.”

The event is open to everyone and features three race distances. There is a 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 15 kilometers, designed to accommodate all fitness levels.

Participants are required to settle a registration fee of just Ksh 2,000, which also secures you an exclusive event T-shirt and medal for the run and fundraising to care for the elderly.

MIC President, Mr. Ahmed Jibril, said Kenyan’s participating, will not only be supporting vulnerable senior citizens, but also prioritizing their own health and well-being.

“As a charity for seniors, seeing you thrive in dignity, good health, and wellness fully actualizes our vision,” said Mr. Jibril.

Proceeds from the race will go directly to MIC’s flagship programs, which provide monthly food baskets and essential healthcare services to over 1,000 elderly individuals across Isiolo and Kakamega Counties.

Well-wishers have been urged to continue supporting the initiative by donating, even if they are not running.

“Your contributions, no matter the size will make a direct impact on improving the quality of life for seniors in need and help cover the cost of running the event,” said Mr. Jibril.
