Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly dismissed Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua’s recent claim accusing him of financing goons to infiltrate anti-government protests on July 19, 2025.
Speaking in Boston, United States, Gachagua claimed that Kindiki had received Ksh 60 million from President William Ruto and used the money to hire goons to create chaos during the June 25 anniversary and the Saba Saba protests and then blame it on Gachagua and his allies.
“They paid goons to cause mayhem and frame us for it so that the public would turn against us. But Kenyans are not blind, they can see through the deception,” Gachagua alleged.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly rejected the claim and responded in a post on his Facebook strongly denying paying rioters to cause violence.
“Trap Man, did I hear you say that I paid rioters to cause violence and loot property during the recent demos? In my significantly long public life, I have never been associated with or accused of violence,” he wrote.
He further stated that he had earlier urged for mutual respect, but warned that Gachagua’s pride and habit of attacking innocent people over problems of his own making would only speed up the consequences he seemed to be inviting.
“I told you tuheshimiane, but your pride and uncouth habit of attacking people who have nothing to do with the mess you have created for yourself will certainly hasten you to get what you are looking for,” he added.
The Deputy President further criticized Gachagua, saying that even lies need some level of intelligence and creativity and questioned why he was organizing defense lawyers and raising funds to bail out looters allegedly hired by someone else, advising him to think more carefully before spreading falsehoods.
“Even lies require a little sophistication, a little intelligence, a little innovation. You are organizing for defense lawyers and fundraising to bail out looters hired by someone else? Next time, take a moment to think through your lies,” he remarked.
