Kirinyaga Chief protests delayed justice for son’s 2020 defilement case

A Senior Chief from Kirinyaga County has appealed to Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen to intervene and revive a stalled defilement case.

Speaking during a Jukwaa la Usalama forum in Kerugoya on Friday, the Chief said he has spent five years seeking justice for his son, who was sodomized, but claimed the police have continually failed him.

The Chief informed the Cabinet Secretary that his son was sodomized in 2020 by a well-known individual, but officers from Kianyaga and Kiamutugu have allegedly been shielding the suspect.

“I have even been going to  Kirinyaga Police commander in Kerugoya in vain. I am a government  officer like them but they have been refusing  to help me. Yet i am the one helping people here ,who will help me now?” He decried.

Speaking after the forum, the chief accused a DCI officer from Gichugu, who was investigating the case, of failing to help.

“I suspect  the officer who has been transferred  has been working with senior officers in this region because I am being taken around whenever I visit a police station, even in the police commander’s office in Kerugoya,” the chief further divulged.
The chief defended his decision to expose saying he had exhausted all other avenues.

“At first I thought  the police would help me but right now I am stressed, Because even my son was infected. My wife left our home as she thought I had the power to get justice for our son who is now 18 years old,” he said.

CS Murkomen promised to follow up asserting that the victim would get justice.
