Kisii MPs ranked by Kenya Track in county development scorecard

Kenya Track Survey has released a development scorecard ranking Members of Parliament in Kisii County based on the scale, visibility and distribution of projects across their constituencies, highlighting the leaders driving measurable progress in education, infrastructure, water access and community empowerment.

South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro leads the county ranking with a development score of 86 percent, placing him at the top of the performance index. The survey attributes his position to structured and visible development across the constituency, including feeder road upgrades connecting farming areas to markets and systematic education support through classroom construction, school renovations and bursary programs distributed across many wards. The consistency and visibility of projects have strengthened the constituency’s development profile.

Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadiah Barongo ranks second with 81 percent, reflecting balanced progress across several sectors. Education support through classroom construction and bursaries remains visible, while water projects including boreholes and pipeline extensions have improved household access in several wards. Road grading has also enhanced mobility and supported local economic activity, although the constituency lacks major large-scale infrastructure projects.

Bomachoge Chache MP Alphah Miruka ranks third with 79 percent, driven by steady sector-focused development and strong grassroots engagement. The survey highlights investment in education infrastructure including classrooms, laboratories and renovation of aging school facilities. Structured bursary programs and feeder road improvements linking farming areas to trading centres have strengthened local economic activity, although the scale of transformation remains slightly below the top two constituencies.

Kitutu Chache North MP Japhet Nyakundi ranks fourth with 77 percent, with development described as balanced across roads, education and water projects. School infrastructure improvements remain a strong pillar while road upgrades have enhanced accessibility and water projects continue to improve living standards. The constituency shows steady development progress but with slightly lower infrastructure visibility compared to the top-ranked areas.

Bonchari MP Charles Onchoke ranks fifth with 76 percent, with development strongly anchored in education support. Consistent bursary programs and classroom construction projects have expanded learning capacity, while feeder road improvements have strengthened connectivity. Empowerment programs targeting youth and women groups have also supported economic participation, although development remains concentrated mainly in the education sector.

Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku ranks sixth with 74 percent, reflecting moderate development progress particularly in education funding and road maintenance. Bursary programs continue to support students from disadvantaged households while school renovations have improved learning environments in some areas. However, development projects appear unevenly distributed and the constituency lacks major transformative infrastructure projects.

Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri ranks seventh with 73 percent, showing incremental development particularly in feeder road grading, water initiatives and education support. Road improvements have enhanced agricultural transport while bursary programs and classroom construction projects support education continuity. Infrastructure expansion, however, remains moderate in scale.

Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda ranks eighth with 71 percent, showing selective development progress including school infrastructure upgrades, youth empowerment programs and minor market improvements. Road projects remain largely maintenance-based while water initiatives have improved access in specific areas. The constituency’s development momentum remains slower compared to higher-ranked constituencies.

Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi ranks ninth with 70 percent, reflecting moderate development mainly focused on bursaries and classroom construction projects. Feeder road maintenance has improved internal connectivity while youth and women empowerment initiatives continue to support community programs. However, the constituency records fewer large-scale infrastructure projects compared to others.

The Kenya Track Survey shows that constituencies with visible infrastructure expansion, structured bursary programs and broad distribution of development projects across wards rank higher in performance perception.
The findings suggest that development delivery is increasingly becoming a key measure of leadership effectiveness in Kisii County, with constituencies demonstrating structured multi-sector growth emerging ahead in the county’s development trajectory.
