Kitale: Boss shell-shocked after discovering employee is hiding a G3 rifle with 18 bullets in his premise

Police in Trans Nzoia County have recovered a G3 rifle with 18 rounds of ammunition following a tip-off from an employer who suspected that one of their worker was in possession of an illegal firearm.

The incident occurred in the Maili Saba area, where officers from a local police station, led by the Officer Commanding Maili Saba Police Station (OCS), acted swiftly on the intelligence report.

According to the police, the weapon was discovered during a thorough search of the premises.

“The weapon had been concealed between two unmounted flat doors in an unused hen coop,” a police report says.

The main suspect, believed to be an employee at the premises, fled the scene before officers arrived. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him and determine how he came into possession of the military-grade weapon. “Officers are currently in pursuit of the suspect, who fled the scene.”

The National Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that unauthorized weapons are removed from civilian hands. “We remain committed to ensuring that illegal firearms do not fall into the wrong hands.”

The recovery adds to ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the proliferation of illicit weapons, which often end up being used in criminal activities.

The public has been urged to continue reporting suspicious activity to local authorities, as timely information can prevent potential tragedies and strengthen community safety.
