Konza Technopolis hosts motorsport race, drawing more than 1,500 stakeholders

Konza Technopolis, in partnership with Delta Motor Sports, hosted the Easter Weekend “Race Wars” motorsport event on April 4–5, drawing more than 1,500 enthusiasts, innovators, and industry stakeholders to the smart city.

The two-day spectacle featured 40 high-performance cars competing in rolling and dig races along Konza’s half-mile streetscape. Organizers said the event was designed not only as a motorsport competition but also as a convergence of sport, innovation, and digital culture, reflecting Konza’s vision of integrating technology with lifestyle and entertainment.

Delta Motorsports Club Chairperson Sunil Bhachu said the venue offered “exceptionally smooth, wide tarmac stretches and a controlled, safe environment ideal for competitive racing,” adding that the partnership elevated safety standards and generated economic benefits for the surrounding community.

Konza Technopolis Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri described the event as a strategic milestone for the city. “Race Wars is a powerful expression of what Konza Technopolis stands for,” he said. “It demonstrates that the Smart City is not just a place to work and innovate, but a place to live, play, and experience the future.”

Winners included Lexus Musa in the 1000cc bikers category, Salman Mohamed in the two-wheel drive class, and Jeremy Kithome in the open class. Organizers said the event reinforced Kenya’s growing reputation as a hub for innovative sporting and digital experiences.

Konza Technopolis, Kenya’s flagship smart city project, is being developed to catalyze economic growth through technology, innovation, and sustainable urban development. Officials said hosting large-scale events such as Race Wars highlights the city’s readiness to support modern gatherings while shaping its identity as a destination for business, lifestyle, and recreation.
