KSSSA Rugby 15s Nationals: Pools confirmed as schools battle for glory

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Rugby 15s Championship is less than two weeks away and excitement continues building as pools for the boys’ competition are confirmed. The tournament, set to bring together the country’s top schoolboy rugby teams, promises intense action and unforgettable moments.

Pool A will feature hosts Marafa, Western Region’s Vihiga, Nyanza’s rising force Kisii, and Rift Valley champions Bwake. Meanwhile, Pool B consists of co-hosts Serani, Nairobi champions Upper Hill, Central representatives Mangu, and Eastern powerhouses All Saints.

Kisii secured their spot in dramatic fashion, edging out St. Mary’s Yala with a last-minute penalty in a tense Nyanza final. All Saints, the defending champions, stamped their authority in the Eastern Region, thrashing Marsabit Mixed 56-0 in the finals, proving their dominance. Mangu, the pride of Central Region, fought through a tough field to earn their place at the nationals.

Bwake, representing Rift Valley, showcased their physicality with a gritty 10-5 win over St. Patrick’s Iten in the regional decider. Upper Hill, Nairobi champions, were ruthless in their campaign, dismantling Nairobi School 43-3, reaffirming their title credentials. Serani and Marafa, representing the Coastal Region, will look to leverage home support for a strong showing.

As the national showdown looms, key questions arise. Will All Saints defend their title? Can Upper Hill live up to their favorites tag? Will an underdog rise to shock the rugby fraternity?

All will be answered when the 2025 KSSSA Nationals kick off, with school rugby history waiting to be written.
