KUCCPS reopens portal for course revision: Second chance for 2024 KCSE candidates

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has granted 2024 KCSE candidates a fresh opportunity to revise their university and college course choices, following the closure of the initial application window on April 30, 2025.

In an official statement released Saturday, May 17, KUCCPS announced the reopening of its online portal from May 18 to May 27, 2025, targeting students who either missed the initial deadline or did not secure a placement in their preferred programs.

“KUCCPS online application system is open for revision of choices for placement of students to universities and colleges for the 2025/2026 placement cycle,” the agency said.

The move is a relief for thousands of students still uncertain about their next academic steps. Candidates who did not apply during the first window are also allowed to submit new applications during this period.

“Applicants who did not secure a course in the application that ended on April 30, 2025, are invited to log in again and choose remaining courses as listed on the portal,” KUCCPS added.

Step-by-Step guide to revising your application
To revise or submit a new application:

  1. Visit the KUCCPS portal: www.kuccps.ac.ke

2. Log in using your KCSE index number, year of exam and password (either your KCPE index number or birth certificate number).

3. Browse available programs and make your revisions accordingly.

This ten-day window is especially crucial for students who are eager to join institutions of higher learning but fell through the cracks during the first round of selections.

KUCCPS’ decision to reopen the portal comes just two weeks after the closure of the first application round, underscoring the placement service’s commitment to ensuring no eligible candidate is left behind.

Education stakeholders have lauded the move, urging students to act promptly.

“It’s a golden opportunity for those who were late or indecisive. Students must log in and finalize their selections while the portal is still open,” said Florence Naliaka, a high school career teacher in Nairobi.

With limited slots still available, students are encouraged to choose realistically from the listed programs to increase their chances of placement.

The race is on—the clock is ticking and the future is waiting.
