Chairperson of the National Lottery Board, Farida Karoney on Monday October 20, 2025, reflected on the life of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during Mashujaa Day celebrations.
In a press statement, Karoney noted that Raila was a remarkable patriot whose vision, resilience, and leadership left a lasting mark on Kenya’s story.
“Happy Mashujaa Day to every Kenyan. Today, we pause to celebrate the heroes whose courage and sacrifice have built the nation we are proud to call home,” Karoney stated.
“Their devotion reminds us that true heroism lives in selfless service and love for the country.
“May the spirit of our heroes, past and present, continue to inspire us to build a united, just, and prosperous nation,” she added.
Her remarks emerged a day after the State Funeral and burial of the former PM in Bondo, Siaya County.
This year’s Mashujaa Day event is being held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.
President William Ruto arrived at the venue of the national event on Monday in the morning for the celebrations that attracted thousands of Kenyans and delegates.
