Jessica Magufuli, the daughter of the late Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli on June 28, 2025 received the official nomination forms to run for a Member of Parliament (MP) seat.
She is running under the youth wing of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, a move which has gained a lot of national interest.
Her father, the late John Pombe Magufuli, was Tanzania’s president from 2015 until he died unfortunately in 2021.
Many Tanzanian citizens now think his daughter, Jessica is rightfully supposed to take over his political legacy since she has the ambition and had a strong personal connection to her father.
Wearing the distinct colors of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) yellow and green, she accepted the nomination papers with a clear goal. She wants to bring new and young energy to the Tanzanian Parliament.
“I am ready to work for all Tanzanians with diligence,” she declared as she accepted the nomination papers.
According to her, she wants to support plans for growth that will help young people, women, and the whole community. She also wants to make sure that the youth section of CCM, Umoja wa Vijana wa CCM (UVCCM)’s voice is heard.
Social media was a buzz with different reactions after Jessica announced her decision. Many Tanzanians showed strong support, respect and happiness for her choice to go into politics, filling her comments with encouraging messages.
Others saw the political move as a way to continue what her late father had started and to bring new, young ideas into leadership.
Some of her supporters said they would vote for her because they respected the late John Pombe Magufuli’s work for the country.
