Lizbaze FC and Kapkugerwet FC have emerged victorious at the fifth edition of the KKK Cup Tournament held at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium in Kericho County.
In a thrilling men’s final, Lizbaze FC edged out Raiders FC from Belgut 2–1, claiming the championship in a match that kept supporters on the edge of their seats.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Kapkugerwet FC dominated Kericho Elites with a commanding 4–1 win to lift the title.
The tournament, initiated by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, went beyond football, featuring additional sports activities such as volleyball for men and persons living with disabilities.
Senator Cheruiyot emphasized that the event is designed to nurture and promote emerging sports talent across the county.
Sponsored by SportPesa, a leading supporter of Kenyan sports, the tournament attracted over 30 teams competing for a total prize pool of Ksh 20 million. SportPesa contributed Ksh15 million in cash prizes, alongside sports kits for participants.
Speaking to the press, SportPesa’s Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships, Japheth Akhulia, highlighted the company’s commitment to empowering youth through sports and creating platforms for talent development.
He noted that the exceptional skills displayed during the tournament could attract recruitment opportunities from local football clubs.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, and several other leaders, celebrating the spirit of sports and community engagement in Kericho.
