LSK warns Kenyans to beware of fraudulent schemes purporting to raise bail for Saba Saba protests suspects

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has raised an alarm following reports of individuals requesting funds to raise bail for persons arrested during the Saba Saba protests.

In a statement issued on Saturday, July 19, LSK informed the public that they are not involved in the fundraising drive.

“Please note that the said fundraising drive is not being conducted and or endorsed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) National Office,” they said.

The Society urged Kenyans to be aware of such schemes and verify the appeals before making any contributions.

“We advise members of the public to verify any such appeals before making any contributions. Beware of fraudulent schemes.”

This comes after a total of 111 individuals who were arrested in connection with the Saba Saba protests were released on a cash bail of KSh50,000 each by Nanyuki law court.

The accused were arrested for malicious damage to property at the Nanyuki Law court perimeter fence, and 2 government motor vehicles, estimated to be KSh700,000.
