Kenyan actress and digital content creator Joy Boera Bisieri has once again left social media users in stitches after sharing a humorous skit featuring her Luhya husband, Smollo Andrew, during the festive season.
In the video, Boera is heard asking her husband to open the car door for her as they arrive in Bumala. “Babe nifungulie mlango venye unanifungulianga,” she says, expecting the usual gentlemanly gesture.
Andrew’s response, however, sets the tone for the skit. “Babe hapa tuko Bumala sio Nairobi. Jifungulie mlango ushuke,” he replies. “Unataka Bumala yote inisengenye? Hizo ni vitu za Nairobi. Tukifika Nairobi nitakufungulia, sai tuko ushago.”

The exchange mirrors the couple’s signature content style, which playfully highlights cultural differences and everyday realities within Luhya households, especially during the annual urban-to-rural migration common during the festive season.
The couple has built a loyal following by poking fun at stereotypes often associated with the Luhya community.
One recurring theme is the belief that Luhyas carry almost all their household belongings when travelling from Nairobi to their rural homes for Christmas.
In another clip shared on their page, Boera is seen asking her husband about their television. Andrew casually informs her that it has already been unmounted and packed for the trip.
“I have already packed it,” Andrew says, before listing other items destined for the village, including a gas cylinder, a mattress and even a double-decker bed.
A visibly shocked Boera responds, “Babe yani tubebane na kila kitu tunaenda nayo home?”
Smollo Andrew is not only a content creator but a multi-talented creative, serving as a performing artist, actor, playwright, director, film and theatre enthusiast, legal consultant and MC.
His diverse background adds depth to the couple’s skits, which blend storytelling, cultural commentary and comedy.
The skits have resonated with many Kenyans, particularly during the festive period, with viewers praising the couple for their relatable humour and authentic portrayal of rural holiday traditions.
Through lighthearted banter and exaggerated scenarios, Joy Boera and Smollo Andrew continue to turn everyday family moments into comedy gold, keeping fans entertained while celebrating cultural identity.
