Lukenya, Butere lead charge as giants roar in Brookside term 1 games

The Brookside Kenya Secondary Schools Term One Games basketball action intensified on Match Day Two with dominant displays, narrow escapes, and clear statements from title contenders as the race for knockout slots gathered pace.

In the girls’ Pool A clashes, defending champions Butere Girls once again underlined their superiority with a ruthless 105–14 demolition of Takaba, sending a strong warning to their rivals that they remain the team to beat.

In the other fixture, St. Brigid’s edged Olympic Secondary 59–58 in a nail-biting encounter that went down to the wire, with a single point separating the two sides at the final buzzer.

Pool B fixtures saw Coastal giants Kaya Tiwi assert their dominance on the national stage, brushing aside newcomers Barchando 74–51 in a commanding performance that exposed the gap in experience at this level. Meanwhile, Ikutha Girls secured a hard-fought 48–42 victory over Loreto in a tightly contested duel, keeping their hopes alive in the competition.

The boys’ category delivered equally gripping action, particularly in Pool A where Lukenya High School got the better of Dagoretti High in what had been billed as the clash of the championship.

Lukenya cruised to a 79–62 victory, with Garang Deng leading the charge to secure bragging rights in a high-stakes encounter. In the other match, Laiser Hill reaffirmed their pedigree with a dominant 94–55 win over Dr. Aggrey, a result that effectively ends Dr. Aggrey’s campaign as they now shift focus to playing for pride in their remaining fixture.

In Pool B, Friends School Kamusinga showcased their attacking prowess with an emphatic 82–34 thrashing of Sabunley, while St. Mary’s Yala proved too strong for Mang’u High School, registering a convincing 74–49 win to stay firmly in contention.
