As society and the world at large grapples with evolving health challenges and the quest for holistic wellness, over 50 participants converged at Luton Hospital on Ngong Road for the transformative Check, Care and Cherish (C3) Experience Seminar.
The event, held in celebration of Luton Hospital’s 4th anniversary, brought together health enthusiasts, professionals, and community members united by a shared passion for nurturing mental, physical, and holistic wellbeing. The seminar highlighted the importance of awareness, compassion, and proactive self-care in today’s fast-paced world.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Richard Otieno, one of the Directors at Restore and Renew Wellness Group, urged participants and Kenyans at large to seek help when struggling with mental health challenges rather than resorting to suicide.
He emphasized that mental wellness is a shared responsibility, calling on society to create supportive spaces for open conversations about emotional and psychological burdens.
“We must normalize seeking help. Talking about our struggles and reaching out for professional or community support can save lives,” said Mr. Richard Otieno.

Adding to the discussions, Dr. Mary Keah Otieno from Holistic Weight Management Centre underscored the importance of physical fitness as a key ingredient to overall health. She encouraged participants to adopt balanced lifestyles that integrate exercise, proper nutrition, and self-care.
Dr. Mary Otieno also advised those considering specialized surgeries to consult and work with licensed medical professionals to ensure safety and lasting results. Sentiments echoed by Dr. Abdirizak Mohamed who is a highly experienced Surgeon and Gastroenterologist.
“Physical fitness and nutrition are not just about weight; they are about total wellbeing. When we take care of our bodies, our minds and emotions also benefit,” said Dr. Mary Otieno.
Dr. Daisy Odundo a paediatrician called on Breast feeding mothers to prioritize Mental, Physical and nutritional Wellness of their children as they are the foundation of child’s growth.
The C3 Experience Seminar featured rich discussions among professionals from diverse health and wellness fields, including The Creative Hub (specializing in paediatric services), Restore and Renew Wellness Group (focused on mental wellbeing), Holistic Weight Management Centre (specializing in diet and holistic nutrition plans, including gastric bypass programs), and Luton Hospital (dedicated to general healthcare).
Together, these organizations explored the interconnectedness of mental, physical, and emotional health, emphasizing that true wellness is achieved when individuals actively check on their health, care for themselves and others, and cherish life’s daily moments.
As Luton Hospital marked its fourth year since inception, the event served not only as a celebration of its growth but also as a reaffirmation of its commitment to community health and wellness.
Luton Medical Hospital Director Albert Mandela hinted that the Hospital is being Upgraded from Level four to Level five to accommodate more patients who need general and specialized services.
The C3 Experience left attendees inspired to take proactive steps in nurturing their holistic health and to become advocates for wellness within their families and communities. They were encouraged to live out the essence of Check, Care, and Cherish.
