Majority of Kenyans do not support broad based government – Tifa report

More than half of Kenyans are opposed to the Broad-Based-Government (BBG) formed by President William Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

According to the TIFA report on Tuesday May 28, 2025, 54 percent of Kenyans oppose the Broad-Based Government.

The report also showed that about 22 percent of Kenyans expressed support for President Ruto’s BBG.

At the same time, 25 percent of respondents declined to express their opinion on the issue of Broad-Based Government in Kenya.

The survey was conducted between May 2 and May 6, 2025, among 2,024 respondents across the country.

The survey was conducted through telephone interviews with respondents whose contacts had been collected during prior interviews.

According to TIFA, in the Coast region, 57 percent of residents do not support the BBG, 22 percent support it, and 25 percent did not respond.

In the Western region, 50 percent oppose the BBG, 21 percent support it, and 29 percent gave no response.

In the Nyanza, 49 percent are opposed, 25 percent support it, and 26 percent had no response.

Meanwhile, Central Rift recorded the highest support for the BBG at 37 percent.

Mt. Kenya and Lower Eastern regions recorded the lowest support at 13 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

“Across the country, support for the BBG is highest in the President’s home zone of Central Rift (37%) and lowest in the Mt. Kenya and Lower Eastern zones, the home areas of his former/impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, respectively (13% and 12%),” TIFA reported.
