Police have launched a manhunt for a man who chopped off both ears of his wife in Sigowet-Soin, Kericho County on May 8, 2024.

The incident was confirmed by Sub-County Police Commander Peter Nthiga.

According to the police report, the suspect  chopped off the ears of his wife over claims of disobedience and failure to follow instructions.

Speaking to the press, Nthiga said that the suspect escaped immediately after committing the crime.

The police boss also warned residents against violent bahavoir that involves injuring other people.

At the same time, the police boss advised couples to solve their marital issues amicably, without violence, seek professional counseling or report to the local authorities for help.

He added that police have intensified a search for the suspect and will present him in court, once he is arrested. 

The incident shocked area residents, who noted that such a thing had never happened before in their community.
