An employee at a hotel in Ruiru, Kiambu County was electrocuted as he was cleaning the floor.
The deceased, a Burundian national identified as Bosco Nkarakaza, 25, was mopping the floor of a hotel during the tragic incident on Wednesday June 4, 2025.
He was rushed to Ruiru Level Four Sub County hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into the incident and preliminary probe shows that the floor had been connected to live and naked wires, which caused the electrocution.
At the same time, a team from Kenya Power visited the scene and confirmed that investigations have been launched.
Reports indicate that most electrocutions are linked to illegal power connections in the country.
However, the government has rolled out a program to rectify the illegal connections, especially in informal settlements.
