A man was arraigned in Wang’uru Law Court and charged with drugging Kirinyaga county assembly majority leader Benson Waweru Ngahu and stealing from him KSh700,000.
Alex Mwaura Muchiri appeared before Wang’uru Principal Magistrate Martha Opanga and charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and stupefying contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code Chapter 63 Laws of Kenya.
He also allegedly stole a watch, iPhone, powerbank and shoes worth KSh239,000 from Ngahu, who is also the Gathigiriri Ward MCA.
On Count one, the court heard that Alex Mwaura Muchiri, on diverse date between 13th December 2025 and 14th December 2025 at Ngurubani Township in Mwea-east Sub-County within kirinyaga County, jointly with others not before the court, they conspired together to commit a felony namely stealing mobile phone iPhone promax 16 of IMEI and powerbank, watch, a pair of open shoes and cash KSh453,420, all valued at KSh692,420, the property of Benson Waweru Ngahu.
On count 2, Alex Mwaura Muchiri with others not before the court were charged with consipiring to commit a felony namely stupefying by administering Rohyphnol, a stupefying drug, to Benson Waweru Ngahu.
On count 3, on a diverse date between 13 th December 2025 and 14 th December 2025 in Mwea-east Sub-County, Alex Muchiri stole KSh206,300 the property of Benson Waweru Ngahu.
Alex Muchiri pleaded not guilty and was released on KSh300,000 bond with surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail until 14th January 2026 when the case will be mentioned.
The hearing of the case is set 21st April 2026.
