A 38-year-old man from Myanga village, Bungoma County, has been sentenced to life in prison for defiling a four-year-old girl.
The accused, Job Wafula Lukhale, was convicted after a trial that laid bare the harrowing events of December 2024. The verdict was issued on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, by the Bungoma Law Courts.
“I find that the prosecution has proved the three ingredients of the offence of defilement, and I proceed to convict the accused,” said Senior Resident Magistrate M.A. Onyango
The court heard that on the day of the incident, Lukhale was discovered in a thicket with the young girl.
Key evidence included eyewitness accounts from three individuals who positively identified him at the scene.
“The child continues to suffer from physical complications and psychological distress,” – Excerpt from the victim impact report.
Heartbreaking testimony from the child’s mother
The girl’s mother gave a moving testimony, revealing how the crime had deeply affected her daughter’s life.
She shared that her child still experiences abdominal pain, nightmares and fear has become common.
The family’s daily life changed dramatically since the incident
In delivering the sentence, Magistrate Onyango stated that all legal thresholds had been met to warrant a conviction.
The court ruled that the child’s age was clearly established, the act of defilement was proven beyond a reasonable doubt and the identity of the accused was confirmed through multiple witness accounts.
