Manchester United have intensified their pursuit of a new striker, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko emerging as their top target.

The highly-rated Slovenian international is now firmly in the sights of the Old Trafford club, with initial talks already underway with Leipzig and the player’s representatives.

While Newcastle United have also shown significant interest in the 22-year-old, reports indicate that Sesko himself is leaning towards a move to Manchester United.

This preference is a considerable advantage for the Red Devils as they navigate a competitive transfer battle.

RB Leipzig is understood to be seeking in excess of £70 million for Sesko’s services. Manchester United’s recruitment director, Christopher Vivell, is reportedly spearheading the club’s efforts, leveraging his prior experience within the Red Bull system where he first scouted Sesko at 16.

United’s interest in the striker is long-standing, reflecting their consistent monitoring of his development.

Sesko enjoyed a strong 2024-25 season with Leipzig, netting 21 goals across all competitions. This aligns with United’s strategic aim to bolster their attack with dynamic, forward-thinking players, a theme evident in their earlier acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
