Mbadi warns leaders against inciting Nyanza voters over Ruto’s 2027 bid

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has cautioned leaders against inciting residents of the Nyanza region and supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) against President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.

Mbadi accused a section of leaders of mobilising opposition to Ruto’s second-term quest without justification.

He singled out members of the Linda Mwanchi faction linked to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Speaking during a fundraiser for the proposed John Mbadi Osogo Senior Secondary School in Kwabwai Ward, Ndhiwa Constituency, the CS said ODM would not bow to pressure from leaders opposed to supporting the President’s 2027 bid.

He maintained that the party has resolved to back Ruto and urged members to align with that position ahead of the next General Election.

Mbadi dismissed claims of internal divisions within ODM, insisting the party remains united and that dissenting voices are temporary and driven by individual interests.

He further lauded President Ruto’s performance, pointing to progress in economic recovery and infrastructure development including projects in the Nyanza region and called on residents to support the President based on that record.
