Popular Kenyan content creator and comedian Eric Obuya, popularly known as MC Exodus, has opened up about a personal chapter in his life, revealing that he once lived in a toilet at Winners Chapel Church in South B, Nairobi, due to lack of shelter.
Speaking during an interview on Radio 47 on July 10, 2025, MC Exodus recounted how he faced homelessness but found temporary refuge within the church premises. “I used to live in a toilet in Winners Chapel Church in South B for lack of shelter,” he said.
At the time, he was actively involved in the church’s youth meetings, which were held regularly. Despite his challenges, he remained committed to the youth ministry. “I had not much possession, I even gave some of my clothes to the needy,” he shared, adding that his spirit of giving never faded, even when he had little.
The comedian further explained that the toilet he stayed in was rarely used during weekdays, which made it easier for him to remain unnoticed. After confiding in the church’s youth leader, he was given the keys to access the toilet. But one day, he was discovered and told to leave.
Fearing for his safety and having no family in Nairobi, the MC affirmed that upon reaching out to the church’s pastor, he gave orders for him not to be evacuated.“I called the pastor and told him of my situation… he knew me and said I should not be interrupted,” MC Exodus recalled.
Thanks to the pastor’s intervention, he was later offered a safer, more secure toilet within the church compound where he could rest undisturbed. “I was then given a safer place to sleep, though still in the Chapel’s toilet, where I could lock myself and peacefully rest,” he added.
