Meet Sr. Immaculate, a Catholic nun who doubles up as a lawyer: She narrates her incredible journey

Sr. Immaculate’s path to sisterhood began at St. Clare Girls Elburgon, where she had her first encounter with sisters.

“So this is my first encounter with Catholicism and my first encounter with sisters. So I am there and am like, ‘I hear Catholics do worship Mary; is that true?'” she said in an interview with TV47.

Her curiosity eventually led her to a Catechism class, where a sister she had approached had guided her—and by the end of the course, she emerged as the best.

“I finished all the syllabus, and then I was like, I can get baptized? I think I am the one who did not understand the faith, and that now I have the knowledge, and I have understood the denomination.”

After her baptism, she was inspired by the sisters at her school to pursue religious life. She began applying to different congregations, but her efforts were met with resistance from her Protestant family.

However, after a family friend convinced her family, she went for formation, a training program, for four (4) years.

Her journey to pursuing Law began when she was attacked by thieves at her formation house, leading to a court case.

“We get attacked, and it becomes a court case, and no one is leading to go to court,” she said. “So me, with my curiosity, I told the formators, ‘No one is willing to go to court; I’ll go with you.'”

Sr. Immaculate proceeded to court with no prior training in law but won the case.

Since then, she has worked for brands and corporates and is currently working as an advocate at the Catholic University of East Africa.
