Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has called for more respectful and issue-based political discourse following a wave of online confrontation between leaders from the opposition and the government.
In a statement shared amid escalating exchange on social media, Millie expressed concern over what she termed as increasing political rhetoric, urging leaders to focus on the constructive debate rather than personal attacks.

“I do not like the political rhetoric. Let us disagree on issues and on strategies of bringing positive change for Kenyans,” the outspoken MP noted.
Her remarks comes at a time when online platforms have become a battleground for political differences, with leaders trading sharp words over governance and national priorities. The ODM MP emphasised the need for maturity in political engagement, noting that respectful dialogue is key to fostering unity and delivering meaningful progress for Kenyans.
However, her sentiments drew mixed reactions online, with some defending the confrontational tone in politics. One Kenyan argued that politics is inherently combative, stating that leaders must be ready to respond firmly when attacked.
Adding on that while insults should not be condoned, self-defense in political arena is inevitable. He further praised President Ruto for speaking out after long been silent on the receiving end of political rhetoric.
“Politics is not a swimming pool where you entertain your body nerves in warm water and hugs. No! and again no one is entitled to insults and mudslinging in political arena, you throw pepper in my eye, I throw acid back to the same point, am very happy with William Ruto, he has been on the receiving end of political rhetoric now its his time to defend himself with the weapon,” a Kenyan said.
