The Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG), in partnership with Kenya Tourism Fund, has graduated 139 students in a landmark ceremony held at the MTCC Naivasha, Morendat School of Hospitality Campus on Friday, 20th February 2026.
The event marked the institution’s first-ever hospitality graduation, covering the 2025 and 2026 academic year cohorts, and signals a major step in MIOG’s expansion beyond its traditional oil and gas training mandate.
The graduands, drawn from Nakuru and Narok counties, received certificates across a range of disciplines including Food Production and Baking Technology, Housekeeping and Laundry, Front Office Operations, Food and Beverage Service, Barista and Bar Service, and Events Management.
The programme falls under the Government’s Recognition of Prior Learning initiative, which seeks to formalize existing skills and raise professional standards within Kenya’s hospitality industry.
“At KPC, we believe education is the most powerful equalizer. The graduation of this first hospitality cohort reflects our commitment to industry-driven training that equips young people with practical, market-ready skills. Through partnerships such as this, we are strengthening the hospitality value chain while creating pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods,” said Joe Sang, Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).
MIOG Director Dr. Nancy Kosgei stated that the launch and successful graduation of the institution’s first hospitality cohort reflects its transformation into a multi-disciplinary centre of excellence.
“The launch and successful graduation of our first hospitality cohort demonstrates MIOG’s evolution into a multi-disciplinary centre of excellence. We are committed to delivering high-quality, competency-based training that responds directly to industry needs and empowers our learners to compete effectively in the job market,” MIOG Director, Dr. Nancy Kosgei, noted.
With this graduation, the Morendat School of Hospitality cements its place as an emerging hub of excellence in Kenya’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.
