M.M Shah Primary and Junior Secondary School has launched an urgent appeal for over KSh 700,000 to support its music and drama team’s participation in the national competitions in Nyeri.
The team, known for strong past performances and regional success, has once again qualified for nationals, reinforcing the school’s growing strength in co-curricular excellence under CBC.
“Parents have voluntarily come forward to support the team, but we still need a collective effort,” said Head of Institution Michael Oriedi.
The appeal was made during the school’s Thanksgiving Day, which brought together parents, teachers, clergy, education officials and alumni, reflecting renewed unity within the institution.
The school also celebrated a key academic milestone, producing 227 learners for placement in C1 secondary schools in the 2025 national assessment.
Board Chairperson Peter Sewe emphasized the urgent need to upgrade infrastructure and phase out makeshift classrooms, noting their strain on learning conditions.
“We must improve our facilities and sustain parental involvement, which has been key to our achievements,” he said.
Oriedi was praised for restoring stability and cohesion through consultative leadership during a previously divisive period. He pledge to take the school to a much higher level.
“If the ministry still wishes that I serve at M.M Shah, I pledge to continue with passionate service and leadership.” He said. “I will propel M.M Shah to higher levels!” He assured.
The unveiling of a modern 67-seater Isuzu double-axle bus, once contested, now stands as a symbol of shared progress and expanded learner opportunities.
Clergy led by Rev. Benson George Odhiambo urged parents to remain supportive, as TSC and Ministry officials commended the school’s direction.
As M.M Shah prepares 330 candidates for this year’s national assessment, attention now turns to ensuring the music and drama team makes it to Nyeri through collective support.
