MoH: Over 16 million children vaccinated in nationwide health campaign

The Ministry of Health has announced the successful conclusion of its national Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) and Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, reaching over 16 million children across Kenya.

The 10-day campaign, one of the largest of its kind in the country’s history, was deemed a resounding success by Health CS Aden Duale.

Duale through an official press statement released on July 15 2025 stated that a total of 16.1 million children received Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) which represents 84% national coverage.

The CS added that the Measles-Rubella vaccine reached 5.18 million children, marking 81% coverage, over 74,000 “zero-dose” children – those receiving immunization for the first time were also covered signifying a major step in the immunization process.

“The Ministry extends its deepest gratitude to parents, caregivers, health workers, county governments, media, and strategic partners whose collective efforts made the campaign a success,” said Hon. Aden Duale.

“The TCV will now be available in all our immunizing health facilities across Kenya, free of charge,” the statement added.

The Ministry also called on Kenyans to seek information about vaccines from “trusted and credible sources” and continue supporting routine immunization efforts. This call comes after some parents were hesitant to allow their children to be vaccinated.

The campaign was supported by several global and local partners, including Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, WHO, UNICEF, PATH, and the Red Cross, among others.
