Anti-Narcotics detectives have arrested a notorious drug peddler Bakari Ali in Mombasa and recovered heroin worth Ksh1.8 million.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) noted that Bakari was arrested during a crackdown on drug trafficking in Mombasa.
“Acting on solid intel, detectives raided the suspect’s residence in Kikambala, catching him completely off guard,” DCI reported.
A swift search of the premises led to the discovery of a blue carrier bag stashed under a mattress containing six tightly wrapped packages of heroin weighing a total of 600 grams.
The suspect was promptly whisked off, along with the recovered narcotics, to the Port Police Station, where he is currently undergoing processing pending arraignment.
This comes a few days after Mombasa Anti-Narcotics Unit detectives nabbed a notorious drug trafficker, Shee Hussein, at Magaoni area in Msambweni and recovered 200 grams of heroin.
Acting on solid intel, detectives pounced on Hussein aboard a public service vehicle. A quick search revealed 200 grams of heroin cleverly hidden in his left trouser pocket.
“Cornered and under pressure, he capitulated, guiding detectives to his stash at home, which led to the discovery of an additional 19 packages of Cannabis sativa,” read part of police statement.
In a similar operation, ANU detectives domiciled at DCI Headquarters executed a well-planned raid in Kabati, Murang’a County.
With targeted intel guiding their efforts, they intercepted Henry Mburu Njogu, who was driving a Toyota Rumion, registration no. KCP 885G. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered 21 sacks of Cannabis sativa.
Mburu found himself in cuffs, transported to Muthaiga Police Station, where he too awaits legal repercussions for his actions.
