10 mothers, mostly teen mums at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, have had their medical bills cleared by well-wishers to help them celebrate Mothers’ Day.
In the spirit of celebrating mothers across the country, teen mums who could not raise their hospital bills left the hospital on Sunday May 11, 2025, happily after the bills were cleared by a section of individuals in the creative industry.
Through the help of Shell Club, the women also received essentials for their babies to help them kickstart motherhood.
Before being cleared to go home, the teen mums were also sensitized on the importance of having a medical cover and the need to register for SHA.
During the process of clearing the mothers, Dr. Martin Wafula the CEO for Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital said the hospital has been partnering with well-wishers to help raise funds for those that need support with medical bills.
The CEO also noted that in a month, the hospital gives up to Ksh13 million waiver on medical bills.
