Mount Kenya University (MKU) finished third best overall with 21 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 26 bronze medals during the Kenya university sports federation national games.
MKU narrowly missed out of the top spot by three gold medals where its sporting rivals USIU- Africa took the top spot with 24 gold medals, 13 silver medals, 21 bronze medals.
Kenyatta University came in second with 23 gold medals, 22 silver medals, 26 bronze medals. A total of 21 Universities participated in the 10th edition.

The university’s best performing teams were the “young Tacs” of karatekas who were appearing in their first major event, mostly comprising students admitted in the university in September 2025.
The university swimming team was not left behind in the hunt of medals bringing home a basket of medals too.
Other MKU teams that brought home medals were, the taekwondo men and women team, the tennis men team, the badminton men and women team, the table tennis men and women team, the Darts men team and the athletics men and women team whose performance was significantly affected by the missing out of key athletes who are currently in training with Kenya army and Kenya police.

Meanwhile, the Mount Kenya university teams were well branded in playing jerseys across all the sports represented.
To cement the branding, the teams transport motorcade was of the university’s digital sports bus and the university sports and creative arts recently acquired MarcoPolo bus.
Mr. William Luta the sports, film, creative and performing arts coordinator was thrilled by the performance his teams put up.

Luta said, “I am in awe of how the teams presented here have performed; most of the teams comprised of very young and yet to be exposed talent picked from the recent September intake, but the students have shown positive attitude and resilience. They fought for the name and the university budge, they are the university warriors who have conquered and won the battle.”
“As a university, the management is very deliberate in enforcing and ensuring that no talent is left un attended to and from where I sit this event has also been a learning point and the key area we need to address is improve on our training facilities and more so, have our students participate in many competitive events and friendly events for exposure and to help the students gain more confidence deserved to compete effectively.”
“As we head back home, we are proud of our achievement. We look forward to 2026 for more sporting adventures and more good times in the competitive field and in the nurturing of this many young talents.”
