Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has publicly warned Kenyans living in the United States against supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s fundraising efforts.
Speaking in a video shared on his social media platforms on Sunday August 3, 2025, Sudi who is an outspoken ally of President William Ruto accused Gachagua of being unpatriotic and insincere.
This was after Gachagua appealed to the Kenyan diaspora during his US tour to contribute financially to his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Sudi’s criticism is also rooted in Gachagua’s recent statements, where the former Deputy President alleged that President Ruto’s government is advised by ‘school dropouts’ a term he finds hypocritical.
According to Sudi, Gachagua often sought his advice during his tenure as DP, despite now publicly questioning Sudi’s education level.
“If a standard 3 dropout advised you to be Deputy President, but due to your incompetence, you failed after a quarter term, then you’d be the biggest fool on earth!” he wrote.
Sudi also claims that he offered Gachagua solid advice to avoid impeachment, which he ignored leading to his political downfall.
“He called me when he was about to be impeached and I gave him solid advice, but he ignored it. Now he goes around complaining and inciting people abroad not to send money home,” he stated.
The Kapseret MP also advised Kenyans living in the U.S not to donate to Gachagua’s fundraiser, calling them hardworking individuals who should not be swayed by a ‘conman’ who was corrupt.
“People in America, let me tell you, do not give that conman money. You are hardworking people while he is a fraud. He took government money from his office, he took a lot of money, ask him where it went,” he claimed.
Gachagua and Sudi have been butting head for weeks especially recently after Gachagua urged Kenyans abroad to stop sending money home in protest against the government.
Sudi criticized the comments, calling them reckless and a betrayal of the efforts made by hardworking citizens both locally and overseas.
“So, Wamunyoro, your trip to the USA was to scam hardworking Kenyans out of their hard-earned cash? You want to swindle Kenyans abroad in broad daylight?” he wrote in a post on X.
