MP Samuel Atandi tells off Senator Sifuna for criticizing ODM – UDA partnership

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Atandi has continued to scoff at ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna for opposing the party’s involvement in the broad-based government.

Atandi dismissed Sifuna’s stance, asserting that their collaboration with President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration is firm and irreversible, and warned Sifuna to stop lecturing them over the decision to work with government.

Speaking during the commissioning of two classrooms funded by NG-CDF at Matera Primary School in Alego Usonga constituency, Atandi cautioned Sifuna against publicly criticizing their decision to work alongside the government, emphasizing that ODM leaders are acting with full awareness of their choices.

Atandi’s remarks come in the wake of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga’s pledge to convene a National Governing Council (NGC) meeting aimed at clarifying the party’s official position on the matter.

Addressing mourners at a separate event in Ugunja constituency, Odinga stated that Sifuna had only been expressing personal opinions regarding the broad-based government initiative.

He assured that the party’s stance will be formally communicated through the proper structures.

Odinga also criticized media outlets for allegedly misrepresenting his remarks made during the ODM delegates’ conference held in Kakamega County the previous day.

He reiterated that the party remains open to strategic partnerships when necessary but will always uphold the interests of Kenyans above everything else.
