National Assembly Budget Committee Chairperson Samuel Atandi has warned the opposition, led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against attempts of using unorthodox means to unseat President William Ruto.
According to Atandi, the recent unrest and destruction witnessed during the Gen Z memorial protest were not spontaneous, but part of a broader scheme by opposition leaders to destabilize the government. He emphasized that such efforts are bound to fail.
He said that President Ruto was elected through a democratic process and any attempt to remove him must similarly follow constitutional channels, not through incitement or manipulation of the youths.
Atandi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Alego Usonga, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to defending Kenya’s constitutional framework and democratic institutions. He declared that members of the broad-based administration remain united in safeguarding the rule of law.
The MP who spoke during a public baraza in Siaya town on Saturday June 28, 2025, reminded the opposition to prepare for the 2027 contest through legitimate, democratic engagement.
Expressing gratitude to both President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga for their leadership and inclusive approach to governance, Atandi affirmed the loyalty of Nyanza residents to the current administration.
He stated that people of Nyanza are united behind President Ruto’s leadership, further discouraging any acts of subversion within the region.
He reiterated that no citizen should participate in efforts that are aimed at undermining the presidency.
