Multiple suspects arrested and narcotics recovered in Coast Region

The Anti-Narcotics Unit in the Coast Region, in collaboration with the Operation Support Unit from DCI Headquarters, has intensified its crackdown on the trafficking, sale, and use of illegal drugs throughout the area, conducting a series of coordinated raids that have resulted in numerous arrests and substantial drug seizures.


In Kisimani, detectives raided a residence belonging to Daudi Ahmed Ali, recovering a whitish powdery substance suspected to be narcotics alongside assorted unserviceable mobile phones believed to be stolen.

Ali was arrested and taken to Bamburi Police Station, where the recovered items were secured pending forensic analysis.
A separate operation in the Majaoni area of Shanzu targeted a rental house belonging to John Wangumo Wachiri.

Officers recovered a red shopping bag containing loose dry plant material suspected to be narcotics, 21 sachets of similar material, and Ksh 3,700 believed to be proceeds of crime.

Wachiri was also booked at Bamburi Police Station awaiting further analysis.
At Corner Musa in Ukunda Township, a search at the home of Popin Mutisya turned up 21 large rolls of dry plant material suspected to be cannabis.

The suspect was booked at Ukunda Police Station with exhibits secured for processing.
In a fourth operation, Mwaura Katana Mgaza was arrested in the Jua Kali area of Lungalunga following the seizure of 40 large rolls of suspected cannabis sativa.

He was taken to Lungalunga Police Station where the items were secured for further analysis.
The DCI has reaffirmed that the fight against narcotics trafficking remains a top priority across the Coast region and the country at large.
