Kenyan digital content creator and influencer Lydia Wanjiru has opened up about a past relationship, revealing that her ex-boyfriend, Frank Doso, offered her KSh 1 million in an effort to reconcile after a breakup.
The revelation was made during a recent radio interview, where Lydia spoke candidly about the circumstances surrounding their brief reunion and eventual separation.
According to Lydia, she outlined several demands to Doso as part of discussions around a possible reconciliation.
Although not all were met, she added that he was apologetic, and noted that the KSh 1 million offer stood out most.
“He was very apologetic. Nilikua na demands zangu and though hakuzimeet 100% alinipea a million.
Mimi napenda pesa.”
Despite the financial gesture, Lydia clarified that the relationship did not last. She emphasized that money alone was not enough to address the deeper issues that existed between them.
In the interview, she noted that respect, emotional maturity, and personal boundaries played a larger role in her decision not to continue with the relationship.
She said that even a larger amount would not have changed her decision, as it was guided by her personal values, rather than financial incentives.
Following the interview, Lydia Wanjiru’s remarks drew a wide range of reactions on social media, with users sharing differing views on money and relationships.
Others took a more lighthearted or critical tone. Another user, @haikaelmmbaga, commented, “Who loves poverty?? kupenda pesa si ni kitu ya kawaida kwani nini cha ajabu hapo… 😂😂😂😂”, suggesting that valuing money in relationships is not unusual. Meanwhile, skepticism was also evident, with @iammidecha writing, “Then kuna wewe hapo inafikiria ni ukweli! Social media is something else!”
