Kenyan rapper and media personality Baraka Njoroge popularly known as Barak Jacuzzi has shared his story of how he found himself in Kenya despite being born in the United States of America.
In an interview with Oga Obinna, Barak Jacuzzi revealed that his first experiences in Kenya weren’t exactly voluntary, they were meant to be disciplinary.
“I was born and raised in America, in South Carolina, but I would get sent here (Kenya) for punishment,” Jacuzzi said.
It sounds almost unbelievable in today’s world, but his family had a unique approach to discipline.
Whenever young Barak stepped out of line back in the States, the solution was simple, to ship him off to Kenya until he learned his lesson.
The idea was simple, to expose him to a different environment, away from the comforts of American life, to help him straighten out his behavior.
He was sent to what many might call a chaotic city, expecting the experience to be a wake-up call.
However, things didn’t quite go according to plan.
“Imagine it’s not even a punishment. They send you to a chaotic city. But, you know, I get sent here for punishment and I realize I’m having a great time. This is great,” Barak revealed.
Instead of dreading his time in Kenya, Jacuzzi found himself having the time of his life.
What was supposed to be punishment turned into an unexpected adventure filled with new experiences, culture, and excitement.
He started looking forward to these trips rather than fearing them.
The so-called punishment became something he genuinely loved, transforming Kenya from a correctional destination into his vacation home.
When Obinna jokingly remarked, “So you love the punishment,” Jacuzzi didn’t hesitate to agree. These weren’t one-off trips either.
“Yeah, but I used to get sent here maybe for like, what, class 6, class 8, form 3, and then by that time, this is like vacation home,” he explained.
By then, Kenya had stopped feeling like exile and started feeling like a second home where he could truly be himself.
Eventually, Jacuzzi realized that Kenya was where he wanted to be.
Once the timing felt right, he made the bold decision to move back permanently in 2016.
Since then, he has carved out a successful career in the Kenyan entertainment industry as a rapper, songwriter, corporate MC, and media personality.
“So then I just moved back once I saw that time was befitting, which was now like 2016,” he revealed.
Since making Kenya his permanent base, Barak Jacuzzi, has become a force in the entertainment industry.
Beyond music, Jacuzzi has established himself as a versatile entertainer, excelling in hosting, acting, and content creation.
Over his ten-year career in the Kenyan entertainment scene, Jacuzzi has evolved into an all-round public figure known for authenticity and creative content.
For Barak Jacuzzi, being sent to Kenya wasn’t the end of his freedom, it was the beginning of his future.
