A cloud of grief has engulfed Kamukunji estate in Bungoma Town following the death of a 22-year-old man under unclear circumstances, leaving residents and family members searching for answers.
The deceased, identified as Isak Mwita, was originally from Machakos County and had been living in Bungoma Town for approximately two months before his death. He was found dead in his house.
The incident has shocked the local community, many of whom described the young man as quiet and hardworking.

According to a family member, Fatuma Ismael, Mwita had been at home earlier in the day assisting a technician with some work.
“He was around the house helping a fundi before he briefly stepped out,” she said.
She added, “When we later returned, we were met with the tragic situation. We are still struggling to understand what really happened.”
Local authorities have since launched investigations to establish the exact cause of death.
In his address to the media, Khalaba Location Assistant Chief Juma Nandemu confirmed that the matter is being treated as suspicious and remains under active investigation.
“The young man was a resident of Machakos County but had stayed in Bungoma for about two months,” Nandemu stated.
He added, “We are working closely with security agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding his death, and we urge the public to remain calm as investigations continue.”
“I urge the youth to focus on constructive activities and to always involve their parents, guardians or local leaders whenever they are facing mental or emotional challenges,” he said.
