Kenyan singer Nadia Mukami has broken her silence after facing backlash over her hit track ‘Woza‘, responding to claims that the song promotes immorality and calling out what she describes as unfair double standards in the music industry.
In an Instagram video on Saturday, December 27, 2025, the award-winning artist addressed critics head-on, particularly those questioning the song’s message to women.
“I have seen so many videos of women giving their opinions, especially Jackie Matubia, saying the song doesn’t speak to her, and I respect that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” Nadia said.

But she didn’t hold back when addressing harsher criticism, highlighting the double standards female artists face.
“Tunakuwanga na double standards sana. When male artistes sing about bangi, pombe, and all these things, they are called talented and perfect. But when I shake the table and sing about real-life experiences, suddenly I’m corrupting society,” she declared.
Nadia Mukami described this selective moral policing as frustrating, yet remained resolute, thanking her fans for their unwavering support. Despite the backlash, ‘Woza‘ continues to trend at number one, proving the song resonates with many.

“I appreciate the support. The song is still trending at number one. Hata mseme nini, I’m going to continue making music,” she said.
The mother of two also shared her personal journey, expressing gratitude for being able to thrive as a parent while pursuing her music career.
“Tuwache kunionea. It’s a blessing to be a mother of two and still be able to make music,” Nadia added, showing that she refuses to let criticism define her path.
