Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association(NPCA) rebrands to Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA)

The Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) has officially changed its name to the Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA) following an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Nairobi on Saturday.

This rebranding aligns the association with the Sports Act, which mandates all provincial sports bodies to transition into county-level entities.

During the elective General Meeting, Kanti Rabadia was re-elected unopposed as chairman for a new four-year term.

He was joined by several other re-elected officials, including Vice Chairman Sreenivas Thota, Honorary Secretary Narendra Patel, and Fixtures Secretary Vishal Bhojani.

The new executive committee also saw the addition of Amit Shukla as Treasurer, replacing Peter D’Costa, and newly elected committee members Yusuf Ezzi and Prasad Pariyarath.

In his statement, Chairman Rabadia emphasized his vision for the NCCA, which includes a strong focus on promoting junior and women’s cricket.

He highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent to create a robust “squad system that churns out players of national repute.”

The new name and leadership mark a transformative period for cricket in the city, with the NCCA set to professionalize some of its competitions.

The NCCA now joins other associations, such as the Rift Valley County Cricket Association and the Coast County Cricket Association, that have already transitioned in line with the new sports legislation.

Rabadia concluded by thanking the members and clubs for their trust and vowed to elevate the standards of cricket across Nairobi.
