Kenya’s Nairobi United have been placed in a challenging Group B of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup following the official draw held on Monday, November 3, 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The FKF Premier League debutants will face Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), AS Maniema Union (DR Congo), and Azam FC (Tanzania) in what is expected to be one of the toughest groups in the competition.
Nairobi United booked their historic place in the group stage after eliminating Tunisia’s Étoile Sportive du Sahel 7–6 on penalties. The tie had ended 2–2 on aggregate following a 2–0 home win and a 2–0 defeat in the return leg. Goalkeeper Kevin Oduor emerged the hero after saving two spot-kicks and converting the decisive penalty.
Earlier in the campaign, coach Nicholas Muyoti’s side had knocked out NEC FC of Uganda on away goals after a 3–3 aggregate draw in the second preliminary round.
The draw, conducted by CAF’s Head of Competitions Division Khaled Nassar and assisted by former internationals Christopher Katongo (Zambia) and Alex Song (Cameroon), placed CECAFA representatives Azam FC and Nairobi United in the same group.
Group B will also feature continental heavyweights Wydad Casablanca, one of Africa’s oldest and most successful clubs with three CAF Champions League titles (1992, 2017 and 2022), alongside AS Maniema Union, regular participants in CAF competitions, and Azam FC, who have reached the group stages for the first time.
The group stage matches will be played from November 23, 2025, to February 2026.
Nairobi United’s qualification also guarantees them USD 400,000 (approximately KSh 51.6 million) in prize money, with the figure set to rise to USD 550,000 (about KSh 71 million) if they advance to the knockout stage.
