Naivasha nanny arrested after allegedly killing her boss, burying body in a shallow grave behind family’s home

A horrifying murder has rocked the quiet Karai area of Naivasha, Nakuru County, after detectives arrested a 30-year-old nanny accused of brutally killing her employer, Jane Wambui Njoroge.

The suspect, Mary Chebet, was apprehended by Naivasha Sub-County-based DCI detectives following a report filed by the victim’s husband, who raised alarm after his wife failed to return home on July 4, 2025.

Jane Wambui, a staff member at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, had left work as usual, but never made it home. Her sudden disappearance prompted swift investigations, leading officers to zero in on Chebet.

What followed was a chilling revelation…

Under interrogation, Chebet reportedly confessed and led detectives to the family’s home in Karai. There, behind the house, she pointed out the shallow grave where the victim’s body had been buried.

Detectives, working alongside public health officers, exhumed the decomposing body of the mother. Disturbingly, pieces of clothing were found tightly wrapped around her neck, suggesting a gruesome death.

The discovery sent shockwaves through the community, with residents gathering in disbelief as news of the cold-blooded murder spread.

Chebet remains in custody as police finalize on their investigations. Authorities confirmed that she will be arraigned in court once all procedures are complete.

The motive behind the murder is still under investigation, but detectives believe it was a premeditated act.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) shared the chilling details through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming the suspect’s arrest and the body’s discovery.

This brutal betrayal inside a family home has reignited public debate over domestic worker vetting and safety in employer-employee relationships.
