Nakuru court issues arrest warrant against businessman over KSh4.1 million debt owed to law firm

Police in Nairobi are looking for a prominent businessman who is accused of refusing to pay over KSh4 million in debt owed to Githogori & Harrison Associates Advocates.

This is after the Nakuru Environment and Land Court issued a warrant of arrest against Mr. Pius Mbugua Ngugi on January 30, 2026 for failure to pay the aforementioned debt.

According to documents seen by TV47 Digital, Mr. Mbugua was directed to pay the law firm on 9th May, 2025, failure to which he be committed to a jail term of six months.

This amount, the law firm says, was meant for legal services offered. The money has been calculated as follows; Decretal amount together with executing taxed costs (KSh3,710,630), interests accrued (KSh475,948), further costs (KSh5,500), and court collection (KSh1,500), a total of KSh4,193,578.

In a letter to Officer Commanding Central Police Station, Githogori & Harrison Associates Advocates wants the police to help trace Mr. Mbugua, for purposes of unveiling him before court.

“To assist in locating the Respondent, we provide the following information: He is the Executive Director of International Companies Limited, located at House of Volvo, Loita Street, Nairobi; He is also associated with Kenyan Alliance Insurance Company Limited, whose offices are on the 12th Floor, Dunhill Towers, Waiyaki Way, Westlands, Nairobi; His known residence is in Muthaiga Estate, at the junction of Tchui Road and Naivasha Road, Nairobi County,” the law firm outlines, trusting that this information will, “facilitate prompt execution of the warrants.”

The matter is scheduled for directions on 5th February 2026, with the aggrieved party expected to update the court on the progress made in executing the its orders.
