Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Saturday made a heartfelt donation of 15 bulls and 15 bags of maize to the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga at his Opoda Farm home in Bondo, Siaya County.
Natembeya described the gesture as a “humble token of my deep appreciation for Raila Odinga’s enduring contribution to Kenya’s democracy, justice and unity.”
“This gesture is a humble token of my deep appreciation for Raila Odinga’s monumental contribution to our nation- his lifelong pursuit of justice, democracy and unity among all communities,” Natembeya said during the visit.

He lauded the late opposition leader as a political father and mentor who nurtured generations of leaders and fostered the bond between the Mulembe and Nyanza regions. “As a political father, he nurtured leaders across generations and championed the bond between the Mulembe and Nyanza regions, a unity that remains the bedrock of our political and social cohesion,” he added.
Natembeya also used the moment to pledge his commitment to continue championing Odinga’s vision for a unified and prosperous Kenya. “As we mourn his passing, i reaffirm my commitment to carry forward his vision- working and in hand with like-minded leaders to fulfill his dream of a united , prosperous and just Kenya,” he said.

The gesture has been hailed by Odinga supporters as a reflection of respect and solidarity between regions that Raila tirelessly sought to unite throughout his political life.
Natembeya’s gesture coincided with another event that converged history and heritage, as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi dispatched a powerful delegation of 100 revered elders from the Mulembe Nation to the Opoda home.
Led by Dr. Edward Ombeva, Chair of the Maragoli Cultural Society, the delegation arrived with six (6) majestic bulls and traditional food items, a heartfelt cultural offering symbolising unity, respect, and shared history.

They were warmly received by area MP Gideon Ochanda, as the gesture coincided with the return of Raila’s body to Kisumu and later to Bondo. The moment powerfully echoed the historic friendship between Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mzee Moses Mudamba Mudavadi (Raila’s and Musalia’s fathers respectively), a bond now carried forward to a new generation.
The elders hailed Raila as “a statesman beyond titles,” whose legacy will forever inspire Kenya’s democratic journey.
