National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula mourns the passing of his elder brother

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced the death of his elder brother, Mr. James Mukhwana Wetang’ula, a retired teacher whose life was marked by humility, discipline, and wisdom.

In a heartfelt message, Moses Wetangโ€™ula described his late brother as someone who profoundly impacted many lives throughout his career in education.

James was the eldest son of Mzee Dominic Khaemba Wetang’ula and the late Mama Anna Wetang’ula, and twin brother to Virginia Mulongo Sikhoya.

He leaves behind a large family including siblings Dorothy Watila, Mary Ongamo, Scolastica Opemo, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, Fred Wetang’ula, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, among other family members.

The late James Mukhwana Wetang’ula will be remembered as a dedicated father, mentor, and respected figure within his community.

His contributions as an educator and his role as a family patriarch have left an enduring legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him.

โ€œWe kindly ask for your prayers and support as we mourn his passing and honour his life. May he rest in eternal peace,โ€ Moses Wetangโ€™ula wrote on his X platform.

Member of Parliament for Westlands, Tim Wanyonyi, has also mourned his elder brother stating how James fought his battles with courage, leaving behind his legacy that will continue to guide the family.

โ€œAs a family, it is painful and deeply unsettling, but we remain grateful to God for the gift of his life. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, โ€œgive thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus,” Tim Wanyonyi said.
