Man in trouble for extorting KSh42,000 from UDA politician over alleged nude photos

A UDA politician vying for the woman representative seat in Vihiga County has sued a man who allegedly extorted KSh42,000 from her.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in a miscellaneous application filed at Milimani Law Courts Nairobi, wants the court to detain the suspect at Muthaiga Police Station for four days in order to conclude investigations. Magistrate Jane Kamau, however, gave orders for three days.

According to court documents, the suspect has been blackmailing Jackline Mwenesi Lukalo by sending her text messages and nude photos.

“The complainant showed me the nude photos that the respondent sent to her on WhatsApp and Twitter. The respondent went further to demand money. For fear of being exposed, the complainant sent KSh5,000 to the respondent and another Ksh 37,000 in cash,” DCI officer John Kamitu told the court.

Kamitu says that Mwenesi became fed up with the whole situation after the extortion game went on for too long.

The suspect was arrested by DCI officers on March 19, 2022. He was charged with demanding property by written threats contrary to Section 299 of the Penal Code.
