Prof. Paul Wainaina reinstated as Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor

In Summary
- Prof. Paul Wainaina was suspended as Kenyatta University VC on July 12 2022 following a tiff with former President Uhuru Kenyatta's government over the sub-division of the university’s land for use by the KUTRRH to set up a WHO facility, the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, and resettlement of the Kamae squatters.
Embattled Prof. Paul Wainaina has been reinstated as the Vice-Chancellor of Kenyatta University.
Wainana was welcomed back by the institution's students and staff on Thursday, November 3 at around 10:00 AM.
Upon his arrival, Prof. Wainina said that President William Ruto's government had rectified all wrongs done to him by the previous regime.
“God used the new government to allow wrongs to be rectified using our fundamental principles. For me to be alive today is a miracle. I knew the Fury that was coming after taking my stand,” he said.
He further confirmed that the land that led to his woes is still intact and in the possession of the university's administration.
“That land is still intact and the title deed is with us, we had a plan for what we wanted to do with the land. There are procedures if the government wanted to take the public land," he added.
Prof. Wainaina's woes
Prof. Wainana was suspended on July 12 2022 over a land dispute between him and then-President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
Uhuru wanted the land in question to be sub-divided and be used by the Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) to set up a World Health Organisation logistics hub.
