    Three police officers have been arrested in connection to the incident where a gang broke into the armoury at Kipasi Police Post in Mbita, Homabay County, stealing four guns and bullets.

    The National Police Service says that the officers were on Friday, November 18 arraigned in court to answer to "appropriate charges".

    Consequently, the three police officers have since been interdicted, pending the hearing and determination of the case against them.

    "A multi-agency team led by the Nyanza Regional Police Commander is on the ground to arrest the burglars and recover the stolen rifles and ammunition," the NPS says in a statement.

    In the incident that occurred on Wednesday, November 16 night, the gang broke into the police post and made away with the guns and 110 bullets.

    Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne says that the stolen guns were; three G3 and one AK-47 rifles with serial numbers G3 S/NO. A3 6699056, G3 S/NO. 6593403, G3 FMP 402994 and AK-47 NO. 4913650 respectively.

    A police report also adds that the 110 bullets included; 80 rounds of 7.62 millimetre and 30 rounds of 7.62 millimetre special ammunition.

    Mbita Constituency chiefs have been mobilised to help police in tracing the stolen guns.

    "We appeal for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects. However, members of the public are cautioned to treat the suspects as armed and dangerous.
